Press Release – 1st Premier Startup Business Festival event to boost entrepreneurs

03 November 2021, Johannesburg – As South African’s were queuing in longlines  to exercise their voting power, The Business Clinic (TBC) marked day one of a month-long Startup Business Festival taking place from 1st – 30th November 2021.

In the build up to the Global Entrepreneurship week, TBC which is the official host of the first ever Startup Business Festival, saw it befitting to make their mark in empowering hundreds of entrepreneurs seeking opportunities to make their start-up dreams realised. The festival event is committed to, not only on creating an enabling ecosystem for innovators and entrepreneurs, but providing resources and holistic solutions aimed at positioning entrepreneurship as fashionable and attainable within the continent.

TBC and ICRD Group Holding Group’s Chief Executive, Mr Lucky Litelu said: “The Startup Business Festival is proud to contribute to a massive campaign that seeks to celebrate and empower entrepreneurs across four corners of the globe – in particular, those individuals who face structural barriers or may have never considered the idea of launching their own startup”.

The Startup Business Festival 2021 will summon industry expects, thought and practice leaders to engage on how to create a conducive environment for entrepreneurs to thrive.

The official festival kickoff will feature keynotes address by Mr Ashton Mpofu, a Senior Water Sector Analyst and Ms Janavi Da Silva, the Senior Program Manager at GreenMatter. It will also feature masterclasses sessions presented by renowned leaders such as Ms Erica Elk, the Executive Director, from The Craft + Design Institute; and Ms Elise Hatting, a Trade and Industrial Policy Strategist, and Researcher for Sustainable Growth, just to mention but a few of our speakers.

“Today, our community consists of entrepreneurs and investors; community leaders, cultural creatives, activists, thought and practice leaders who are all pursuing to align what they care about with their actions to make the world a better place.  “Startup Business Festival is “A Living Entrepreneurial Ecosystem that enables entrepreneurs and innovator to thrive”, added Mr. Litelu.

This insightful and empowering month-long festival will focus on four key entrepreneurship thematic components which will be spread across November weeks. These thematic components are Entrepreneurship for Environmental Sustainability, Entrepreneurship for Economic Transformation, Entrepreneurship for Social Change, as well as Entrepreneurship for Creative and Cultural Expression.

In addition, the festival will explore panel discussions presented by industry leaders across business, government, civil society and academia.
